OctoPlus has made two new appointments to its senior management team. Gerben Moolhuizen, MBA, previously director OctoPlus products, has been named chief business officer and will join the company's senior management team. He replaces Dr. Henrik Luessen who is leaving to start his own consulting company, after seven years at OctoPlus.
Prior to joining the company in December 2001, Mr. Moolhuizen held business development positions at Primagen, Pharming and Eurocetus (now Chiron) where he gained more than 14 years of experience in successful deal making and obtaining venture capital financing for life science companies.
OctoPlus has also named Dr. Ewoud van Hoogdalem chief medical officer and a member of the management team. He was previously director of experimental medicine with Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical R&D based in Belgium. He has more than 16 years of experience from Gist-Brocades (now DSM), Yamanouchi Europe and Johnson & Johnson, in clinical development from preclinical to late-stage.
