Auxilium Appoints Two Executives

Andrew I. Koven has been named executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel at Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, and Mark A. Glickman has been named senior vice president of sales at the company.

"These leadership appointments advance our efforts to help position Auxilium for sustainable success and the next stage of its evolution," said Adrian Adams, Auxilium’s chief executive officer and president. "Collectively, Andrew and Mark's broad expertise and industry experience should significantly enhance our capabilities as we seek to maximize the value of XIAFLEX and Testim, deliver on our current pipeline, and capitalize on future growth opportunities to achieve profitability and drive shareholder value."

In his new role, Mr. Koven will be assume responsibility for the company's legal functions, government affairs and technical operations. Mr. Koven has more than 26 years of experience practicing law, most of which has been in the pharmaceutical industry. Most recently he served as president and chief administrative officer of Neurologix. Prior to that, Mr. Koven was executive vice president and chief administrative and legal officer at Inspire Pharmaceuticals, where he oversaw all matters related to legal, quality and compliance, corporate development and licensing and technical operations prior to the strategic acquisition of the company by Merck.  

Mr. Glickman has more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales and operations. Most recently he was vice president of the medical device division of Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, where he helped increase business by 50% in two years, while also spearheading quality improvement initiatives and playing a critical role in new regulatory filings. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of sales and marketing at Oscient Pharmaceuticals, where he completed a successful turnaround of the company's commercial strategy, driving a significant increase in sales during his tenure.  

Also, Darrin Bryan has been appointed vice president of commercial analytics, a newly created position aimed at driving the commercialization of Auxilium's current and future pipeline. Mr. Bryan has an extensive background in sales and marketing strategic analysis.
