McSorley and Zunggeemoge take on management roles

SGS Life Science Services has appointed two senior managers at its new North American Life Science Services GMP/GLP lab in Carson, CA, scheduled to open in 3Q14. Dr. Marcella McSorley has been appointed quality assurance manager and Pojaman Zunggeemoge has been appointed microbiology manager. The 7,500 sq.-ft. Carson facility will be the company’s first line of business on the West Coast and will offer microbiological testing and bioanalytical services.
Dr. McSorley will responsible for the implementation of a robust quality management system at the new site. Previously she served as the director of quality control for Aaron Industries, overseeing a team of 20 staff across analytical chemistry, microbiology and stability areas, and the FDA approved OTC pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
Dr. McSorley has 20 years of experience in the pharma and biopharma industry. She began her career in biotech financial analysis and moved into regulatory affairs and clinical drug development, working for Alpha Therapeutic Corp. (now Grifols, Inc.). She has also held positions with Amgen, Allergan, and Pathway Genomics Laboratory.
Ms. Zunggeemoge will focus on the management of the Microbiology Department at Carson to ensure the on-going compliance with SOPs. She joins the company from Grifols Biologicals, Inc., where she was QC microbiology supervisor, responsible for the adherence to cGMP protocols, company specifications and procedures within the microbiology department. Previously she worked in a number of quality roles at Baxter Healthcare and Silliker, Inc.
“Marcella and Pojaman bring a wealth of practical experience to SGS and we are pleased to have them on board at this stage of the development of the business,” said Jihye Jang-Lee, general manager of the SGS Carson Life Science Services Facility. “With our new laboratories due to open later in the year, it is vital we appoint the people now so our customers can benefit from the facility and the expanded offering it brings.”
