Adriana (Andi) Karaboutis has been appointed executive vice president, Technology and Business Solutions, BIogen Idec, reporting directly to the company’s chief executive officer, George Scangos, Ph.D. Ms. Karaboutis will also be a member of the management team.
Ms. Karaboutis will lead the company’s IT operations employing technology and data to enhance overall engagement with patients and healthcare providers. She will work to drive technology initiatives throughout the organization, leveraging advanced analytics to enhance the drug discovery process, gain insights from clinical data and improve patient care.
“Andi is a remarkable technology leader who will enable Biogen Idec to infuse digital innovation at all levels of our business and research organizations,” said Dr. Scangos. “As the pace of digital innovation accelerates, Andi will play a critical role in our mission to improve human health and support those who serve patients. Ms. Karaboutis joins Biogen Idec from Dell where she was vice president and chief information officer (CIO), with responsibility for the company’s overall IT enterprise and customer experience. Her background also includes leadership roles in global IT and business operations at Ford Motor Company and General Motors.
