SGS Life Science Services is investing in its Mumbai, India facility, more than doubling its lab size to 3,994m2. The expansion will accommodate increasing demand for Full Time Equivalent (FTE) activities, as well as more stability projects from both local and overseas operations. The expanded lab will serve as a dedicated cGMP pharmaceutical testing site and is slated for completion and validation in 2Q15.
The investment includes three new 100 cu meter capacity stability chambers, HPLCs, dissolutions, gas chromatographs and additional general lab instruments. The current staff if 88 will ultimately be augmented with an additional 39 employees.
“The expansion will bring additional facilities, expertise and personnel to serve our customers’ requirements in Asia,” said Paul House, managing director of SGS India Ltd. “Upon completion, the Mumbai laboratory will be the largest stability testing facility in our Life Science Services network.”
