The manufacturing space is intended to provide geographic convenience for East Coast customers as well as additional capacity and redundancy of the company’s headquarters in Grand Prairie, TX. While equipment is still phasing in, both digital and flexographic printing will be performed onsite, along with large format insert/outsert folding and a variety of other packaging services. According to Mr. Vale the company will soon be adding a digital press with the latest technology for labels, printed literature and outserts.
With half of of the company’s business emanating from NJ, the company chose this site, a former packaging facility for Estee Lauder, to be closer to its clients and provide greater convenience. The company signed a 10-year lease and invested in extensive renovations. Platinum Press was able to get the site up and running in a relatively short timeframe.
With the NJ facility, the company no longer has to ship products from Texas, which can take as many as four days to reach clients in the tri-state area, and in many cases, can now deliver same day in NJ.
The company currently has approximately 30 employees at the Oakland site and anticipates doubling that number by the end of the year. The TX site has more than 150 employees and 10 years of operational experience. Drawing on this experience, the company successfully completed a staggering 16 audits, averaging 1-2 per week at the six-month-old NJ site.
Platinum Press has more than 150,000 sq.-ft. of manufacturing space at its two locations. The company offers a full line of printed packaging components from concept and design to production and warehousing. This includes specialty labels, folding cartons, blister packaging and printed literature such as inserts, outserts and medication guides.
