Mattawan, Mich. – MPI Research announced today it will further develop its ophthalmology practice, starting with the recent hire of Josh Bartoe, DVM, MS as Director of Ophthalmology Services.
“Dr. Bartoe has been working with us as a consultant for nearly a decade,” said Director of Experimental Therapeutics at MPI Research, Thomas Vihtelic, DVM, PhD. “Now as an official member of the MPI Research team, his expertise will be instrumental in fostering the growth of our ophthalmology specialization, allowing us to offer a complete package to Sponsors – from preclinical safety through Phase IIa clinical studies.”
As Director of Ophthalmology Services, Dr. Bartoe is responsible for providing overall direction for this specialization. He will work closely with Directors, Senior Directors and Study Directors to provide appropriate resources for growth and profitability, and ensure that business needs are aligned with operational resources.
A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO), Dr. Bartoe also holds positions at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine as Chief of Service – Comparative Ophthalmology and Associate Professor. He completed his internship at MSU and residency at Kansas State University. Dr. Bartoe participates with a number of professional associations including Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and Society of Toxicology, among others.
The MPI Research Ophthalmology team has extensive experience with ocular dosing routes, clinical ophthalmology examination techniques, specialty diagnostic procedures, tissue micro-dissection, biodistribution, and ocular histopathology.
