Bosch Packaging Technology has introduced its next gen Human Machine Interface HMI 4.0, suited for both stand-alone machines and entire lines. It provides an interface for data collection, data sharing and visualization and Bosch will successively equip all new machines of its processing and packaging units with the HMI 4.0.
New functions include guided workflows to assist operators through production processes, as well as format changes, cleaning and maintenance. The display features a touch-sensitive surface, data can be entered with multi-touch gestures.
With the tile-structured menu, operators can get an overview of all functions and processes of their machines. Tailored to specific user roles, such as operator or line manager, the HMI 4.0 only displays the processes relevant to the current user.
According to the company, the HMI 4.0 provides more transparent processes and notifications. For example, operators immediately receive a notification in case of production downtime, including causes and troubleshooting support; direct links to user manuals and format changeover lists/tasks; and a new comment section to add notes and share them.
