Quintiles’ new lab in Tokyo, Japan has received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), a network of fully harmonized, CAP-accredited central labs around the world.
Quintiles began providing lab services in Japan in 2008 through an alliance with Medca Japan. In March 2010, Quintiles opened its own central lab in Tokyo. The Tokyo facility features expanded testing capabilities, and will increase its test menu to include molecular/polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and other tests based on customer need.
“CAP accreditation has become the international gold standard for quality, and Quintiles is committed to delivering quality laboratory services that meet complex regulatory requirements in the New Health landscape,” said Thomas Wollman, senior vice president, Quintiles Global Central Laboratories. “Our Tokyo facility is the 10th lab in Quintiles’ network to become CAP certified, validating our efforts to achieve high quality, consistent delivery across every region and every clinical trial.”
