Gerald R. Melillo, Jr. has been named president, Sales Services, at PDI, Inc., where he will be responsible for the company's sales operations. Mr. Melillo previously served as senior vice president of Business Development and will continue to report to Nancy Lurker, PDI's chief executive officer.
"Since joining our company last year, Gerry's significant experience in pharmaceutical industry sales and marketing has proven to be instrumental in driving PDI's commercial outsource services and contract sales business," said Ms. Lurker. "As a seasoned pharmaceutical executive, we are confident that his results-focused leadership style will continue to create strong shareholder value for our firm. I am delighted to announce his promotion."
Mr. Melillo joined PDI in October 2011. Previously, he was the general manager for the Southeast Operating Unit for Novartis, where he was accountable for the operating unit's commercial activities. From 2004 to 2008 at Novartis, he was vice president of the ABGIU Business Franchise, responsible for leading marketing and strategic planning for key in-line brands, multiple brand launches, and key partnerships and joint ventures. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Pharmacia, Inc. and Upjohn, with increasing roles of responsibilities in sales and marketing.
