Bob Scott-Edwards retired from his position as president, ICON Central Laboratories, effective December 31, 2009. Tom O’Leary, previously senior vice president and global head of data management, ICON Clinical Research, has succeeded Mr. Scott-Edwards.

Mr. Scott-Edwards has served as president since August 2004. He previously held the position of vice president, sales and marketing at ICON Central Laboratories since June 2000. During his tenure, ICON established a global network of central laboratories in New York, Dublin, Ireland, Singapore and Bangalore, India and has provided lab services in virtually every phase and therapeutic area of clinical development.

“Bob has been instrumental in establishing ICON as a leading global provider of central laboratory services and has been a key member of ICON’s executive management team,” commented Peter Gray, chief executive officer at ICON plc. “His dedication to quality and commitment to serving our clients has been outstanding and I wish him a long and fulfilling retirement. I would also like to wish Tom every success in his new role as we look to continue to grow our central laboratory business.”

Mr. O’Leary joined ICON in February 2001 and was appointed global head of data management in 2006. Prior to joining the company, Mr. O’Leary held senior data management, project management and resource management positions at SmithKline, Beecham and GlaxoSmithKline.
