Haupt Pharma AG has purchased Pfizer’s production site in Latina, Italy, providing Haupt with access to a plant focused on the production of antibiotics. Haupt is now able to provide customers with products including hormones, cytotoxics and beta-lactams. The transaction expands Haupt’s business in Italy and enhances its market position in exports. The company will continue to supply Pfizer on a global basis.

“Through the acquisition of the Latina plant with its state-of-the-art facilities and highly qualified staff, we are well positioned to significantly expand our international market position. In Italy, we are expecting a considerable increase in demand for generic medicaments within the next 10 years. Moreover, our new beta-lactams competence center in Latina enables us to complete our product portfolio and to improve our competitive advantages,” said Hans-Christian Semmler, chairman of Haupt Pharma.
