Univar Inc. has entered into an agreement with Dow Corning Corp. for the U.S. distribution of its silicone-based solutions portfolio, including pharmaceutical excipients, process aids, and fluids for siliconization.

The agreement includes the U.S. and Puerto Rico and is an extension of the companies’ existing partnership in Canada. Univar will sell a range of Dow Corning branded products, including simethicones, dimethicones, medical antifoams, and specialty fluids.

“We greatly value our relationship with Dow Corning and are pleased to expand it by being appointed as its channel to market for these leading silicones in the pharmaceutical industry,” said Tom Nist of Univar. “Our partnership offers customers greater access to the Dow Corning products that they trust and strengthens Univar’s offering in the industry. Together, we combine Dow Corning’s superior products and Univar’s unparalleled service to deliver exceptional value.”

“We are always looking for the most effective ways to work with and serve our customers,” said James Stephenson, Dow Corning Healthcare global market manager. “The pharmaceutical industry’s material and supply needs are specific and demanding. The winning combination of Dow Corning and Univar will create a unique offering of silicone materials and market intimacy that our customers not only demand from us, but significantly value.”
