As the delivery of medications to patients takes center stage during this period of supply chain disruption, Woodfield Distribution, LLC, known as WDSrx, secured a 54,000 square foot warehouse in San Antonio, TX, to assure consistent movement of prescription and over-the-counter products from manufacturers to patients and trading partners.

The WDSrx expansion fills the need for specialized logistics services in the underserved Austin-San Antonio corridor. According to the City of San Antonio Office of Economic Development, approximately one in every six San Antonians is employed in the health sciences industry which projects a 10.2% job growth rate over the next four years.

The new facility location at 1310 Cornerway Boulevard was acquired recently on a long-term lease and benefits from easy access to Highway 410 and I-10. Building upgrades are currently being undertaken to meet GMP guidelines for the handling and fulfillment of pharmaceutical drug products. Installation of air conditioning units to maintain constant temperature, multiple security enhancements, information technology systems, material handling equipment and a Quality Assurance program are progressing to obtain drug and food licensing from government and regulatory authorities. Full operation is expected to commence by January 2, 2021.

Established in 2010 at Boca Raton, FL, WDSrx provides supply chain solutions for manufacturers of prescription and over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements and nutritional foods, medical devices and raw materials. The San Antonio warehouse is the eighth WDSrx location in Texas, Florida, New Jersey and Ohio including a facility in Sugar Land, TX outside Houston.

According to WDSrx president Adam Runsdorf, “The expansion into San Antonio allows us to support local manufacturing operations for a national supplement manufacturer and will require hiring approximately 15-20 full-time employees as our business increases over the short-term.”
