Lonza’s chief executive officer, Marc Funk, will leave the Company for personal reasons. Albert Baehny, chairman, will take on the additional responsibility of chief executive officer on an interim basis until a permanent successor is named. Marc will remain with the company until January 2020 to ensure a smooth transition. Also, board member Christoph Maeder has been appointed Lead Independent Director by the Board.

Christoph Maeder, Lead Independent Director said, “Albert has agreed to lead the Company on a temporary basis until a successor is in place, for which a search has commenced. The Board respects Marc’s decision and would like to thank him for his service to Lonza and wish him well for his future endeavors.”
