NorthX and Demeetra Align to Accelerate Biotech Company Milestones

NorthX Biologics and Demeetra launched a strategic collaboration to help biotech companies reach Investigational New Drug (IND) and clinical milestones faster.

The partnership combines a best-in-class glutamine synthetase (GS) (-/-) Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line with full freedom to operate. Additionally, there are no intellectual property-related costs.

Other advantages of the collaboration include advanced cell line development technologies and high-quality process development. Master Cell Bank (MCB) banking and good manufacturing practice (GMP) manufacturing are other components.

NorthX and Demeetra Combining Forces

United in this collaboration are Demeetra’s CleanCut CHO platforms and stable cell line development (CLD) with NorthX’s GMP production capabilities. Also, NorthX offers process scale-up expertise, including fill-finish, and regulatory quality.

For biotechs, the partnership’s potential benefits include fewer technical setbacks and no need to rebuild cell lines or re-qualify processes. The integrated model minimizes tech transfer delays and accelerates the path to IND-enabling and clinical material.

These factors, NorthX and Demeetra say, can be crucial when companies are transitioning to a manufacturing partner. Even a three-month delay, according to the partners, can materially impact valuation and financing outcomes for early-stage biotechs.

Streamlining CLD and GMP manufacturing gives customers a clear and uninterrupted path from early development to high-quality material.

This point was driven home by Janet Hoogstraate, CEO of NorthX Biologics, commenting in a press release.
