Convergent Therapeutics is welcoming Andrew Davis as the company’s new Chief Business and Strategy Officer. Davis, who currently serves on the Vedanta Biosciences Board of Directors, was most recently Chief Business Officer at Dynavax Therapeutics.

What Convergent Therapeutics Does

Convergent is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that focuses on development of next-generation tumor-selective alpha radioantibodies for cancer treatment. The company’s work harnesses antibody selectivity and alpha radioisotopes’ tumor-destructing potential to precisely, locally, and potently target cancer cells.

Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., Convergent’s proprietary platform is licensed from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Convergent’s co-founders have expertise in areas not only including cancer biology, but also clinical care and research, and drug development.

Co-founder and CEO Philip Kantoff, MD, marked Davis’ appointment in a Convergent news release. He said the company is busy developing a new therapeutic option for patients with advanced metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.

“We are excited to welcome Andrew to Convergent as we look ahead to key data milestones for CONV01-α,” Kantoff said. “Andrew’s experience and leadership will be critical as we drive pipeline growth and prepare for late-stage clinical studies and beyond.”

Shaping Business and Strategy

“I am thrilled to join Convergent at such an important and exciting time for the company,” Davis said. “Alpha-emitting radioantibodies represent a genuinely new therapeutic paradigm with potential to establish a new standard-of-care for patients with prostate cancer.”

Davis called the opportunity to shape this emerging market, and forge collaborations to bring the candidate to patients, “tremendously exciting.” He says it indicates the broader potential of the company’s pipeline.

“I look forward to working alongside the entire Convergent team to realize the full promise of CONV01-α,” Davis said.

In addition to serving on the Vedanta board, Davis was also previously on the board of Utility Therapeutics. Prior to Dynavax, he was Chief Business Officer at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, and Chief Business Development and M&A Officer at iNova. Before that, he was Head of Oncology Business Development at Merck.
