Editor’s Take: Third-party conjugate vaccine developers can select from a deep menu of services in this unique arrangement.

Intravacc and SynphaBase, both CDMOs, are strategically partnering to help advance development and supply of conjugate vaccines. SynphaBase specializes in glycochemistry and complex molecule synthesis, while Intravacc concentrates on vaccine and biologics development and manufacturing.

In the partnership, the companies will offer complementary capabilities to third parties developing conjugate vaccines. Those services will also be provided to Intravacc’s internal vaccine programs, at Intravacc’s discretion.

What Intravacc, SynphaBase Contribute

Intravacc will bring its conjugation development, scale-up, and good manufacturing practice (GMP) manufacturing expertise. SynphaBase, accordingly, will contribute its knowledge in synthetic oligosaccharides.

Both Intravacc and SynphaBase say their areas of specialization, when combined, will be synergistic.

“We are pleased to announce our strategic partnership with SynphaBase,” Ivo Lemmens, Intravacc Managing Director, said. “[We’re] combining SynphaBase’s expertise in synthetic oligosaccharides with Intravacc’s capabilities in conjugation process development and GMP vaccine manufacturing. We aim to provide vaccine innovators with an integrated and efficient development pathway for conjugate vaccines.”

“SynphaBase is excited to to bring together our complementary strengths in glycochemistry and vaccine development,” SynphaBase CEO Arthur Bodenmüller said. “Synthetic oligosaccharides are an important enabling technology for modern conjugate vaccines. This collaboration will help developers access the expertise, materials, and manufacturing support needed to advance promising vaccine candidates.”

Open-Ended Options for Conjugate Vaccines

The partnership is non-exclusive. This means that SynphaBase may recommend Intravacc as a preferred CDMO for conjugate vaccine services. Likewise, Intravacc is free to promote SynphaBase as a top supplier within any relevant client or internal programs. But clients will remain free to select products and services best meeting their development needs.
