This supplies Neurizon with the API for its lead asset, a potential therapy for ALS.

Editor’s Take: Supply agreements are crucial to commercial readiness when a candidate is in late-stage development.
Neurizon Therapeutics and Elanco Animal Health have a strategic supply agreement for long-term access to human health monepantel.
As the API in Neurizon’s lead asset, NUZ-001, the company says supply of human health monepantel is critical. NUZ-001, a potential therapy for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative diseases, is currently in a Phase II/III trial.
The agreement with Elanco, crucially, provides Neurizon with access to scalable good manufacturing practice (GMP) supply. It is an expansion of Neurizon and Elanco’s previous global license agreement, announced in July 2025. Neurizon says the new agreement, meanwhile, is a milestone in its concentration on capital-efficient commercial readiness.
Neurizon Interim Executive Chairman Sergio Duchini said the supply agreement supports future commercialization following completion of the Phase II/III program.
To that end, initial orders are earmarked not only to support commercialization, but also to create a strategic inventory holding.
“[This provides] a long-term supply of monepantel for human use, reflecting a disciplined, risk-managed approach to capital management,” Duchini said. “[It] strengthens Neurizon’s positioning as a clinically advanced and commercially focused neurodegenerative disease company.”
Neurizon is pursuing discussions with potential pharmaceutical partners and broader stakeholders commercially. As such, the company believes the new pact with Elanco enhances the long-term “commercial attractiveness” and strategic flexibility of NUZ-001.
Furthermore, Neurizon says, the deal strengthens its chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) infrastructure, combining GMP capabilities with strategic foundation.
The supply agreement is good for five years initially. In specific circumstances, Neurizon retains the right to manufacture, or acquire from a third party, APIs functionally equivalent to monepantel.
