Enzene Launches Nex Partnership Initiative at BIO

Editor’s Take: Enzene’s new program follows the ribbon-cutting at its new New Jersey facility in 2025.

Enzene debuted its comprehensive, end-to-end Nex partnership program at the 2026 BIO International Convention in San Diego.

The initiative allows governments, institutions, and biopharmaceutical organizations alike to establish world-class biosimilar manufacturing in their home territories. Enzene provides the technology, expertise, and pipeline behind the operation.

Crucially, this cuts $200 to $300 million in capital needs for a conventional fed-batch facility to $60 to $70 million.

Talking Nex with Enzene CEO

Following the Nex launch, Contract Pharma spoke exclusively with Enzene CEO Himanshu Gadgil, PhD, about the new program’s potential impact.

Gadgil said whether a partner is a smaller, early-stage company or a larger one, they can access a state-of-the-art platform.

“We want to expand our network globally, go all over the world,” Gadgil said. “There are pockets in the world where it’s not just the platform, but also skill development that becomes important. So we are offering an end-to-end solution.”

According to Gadgil, part of Enzene’s portfolio are biosimilars already approved in India that can be manufactured locally and marketed. This allows clients to go from zero to being a fully operational biologics manufacturing company in less than four years.

It fits with Enzene’s mission of being a CIDMO, or “continuously innovative” development and manufacturing organization.

“We want to not just be a CDMO, but really anchor in on innovation,” Gadgil said.
