Bruce Freundlich has been appointed senior vice president, Medical at Antares Pharma. Dr. Freundlich completed his rheumatology training at the University of Pennsylvania, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor of medicine, and is a volunteer staff member of the Philadelphia Veterans Administration.

Dr. Freundlich has served as a medical director of Merck’s Mid-Atlantic Region, and vice president of Immunology and Musculo-Skeletal Diseases at Wyeth/Pfizer. While at Wyeth, his team was the first to use remission as a primary endpoint in a rheumatoid arthritis trial called COMET. Dr. Freundlich has authored more than 100 original publications and abstracts.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Freundlich to the Antares team,” said Paul K. Wotton, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer. “Bruce’s broad experience both in industry and academia as a practicing and highly regarded rheumatologist will be valuable as we commercialize OTREXUP. Dr. Freundlich is well known to his peers through his numerous publications and active participation in professional association meetings including ACR and EULAR. Everyone associated with Antares is excited about his joining the organization at a time when we are establishing our own commercial presence in the rheumatology field.”
