Coster has signed an agreement with Catalent Pharma Solutions for the development of a line designed for filling pMDIs (pressurized Metered Dose Inhalers). The high-output line will be part of Catalent’s Inhalation Center of Excellence in Research Triangle Park, NC.

The filling line will incorporate Coster’s technology and will have a capacity of 150 cans per minute. The new line is part of Catalent’s $20 million investment at the site and expands existing capabilities. The main filling line will include camera vision systems for validation of crimping parameters using statistical analysis and Coster’s Air-Q system controlling the environment within an integrated clean room system

“The expansion at RTP is set for completion in the first quarter of 2015 and will at least double the capacity in the short term, to more than 20 million units annually, with the potential for much more over the long term,” said Christie Dolan, vice president and general manager of Catalent’s Development and Clinical Services business.
