Catalent Pharma Solutions has expanded its packaging capacity with the installation and qualification of a ZED in-line blister card sealer at its Clinical Supply Services facility in Philadelphia, PA.

The in-line blister sealer provides maximum flexibility and is beneficial for both small and high-volume clinical trial packaging, according to the company. The sealing surface can accommodate both large and small format blister cards and the extended filling area allows as many as eight different blister strips to be filled at one time. Also, the dual sealing stations allow for increased speed throughout the process and assists in cutting the blister package sealing time, according to the company. In addition, the ZED in-line blister sealer offers online printing on blister cards and is available in standard ink and ultra-violet invisible colors, a similar process to how blister strips and bottles can be identified with printed codes.

“Our investment in the latest technology upgrades in clinical packaging illustrates our commitment to our customer’s needs for new strategies to streamline supply chain management. It is important to Catalent to continue to help supply chain managers speed supplies to clinical trials and products to market,” said Frank Lis, vice president and general manager, Clinical Supply Services, Catalent.
