The University of the Incarnate Word has broken ground for the new Feik School of Pharmacy, named for John W. Feik, president and chief operating officer of DFB Pharmaceuticals. The Feik family provided the initial funding for the school, which will be the first private professional school of pharmacy in Texas, and will be the first in the U.S. to offer Spanish-language certification when it opens in the fall of 2007. The multimillion-dollar, five-story facility will include a 56,000-sq.-ft., two-level building above a three-story parking garage.

“We are honored to be a part of this school that will address the critical need for more pharmacists,” said John Feik. “A strong educational infrastructure will support the growing health care sector in this region and nationally. Without the commitment and successes of the employees at DPT Laboratories, this would not be possible, and we are happy to be a part of this school that will supply first-quality, bilingual graduates.”
