Professor Brendan Buckley has been appointed senior vice president, Medical Affairs at ICON. He joined the company in July 2011 through the company’s acquisition of Firecrest Clinical. He is an endocrinologist with more than 30 years of experience and is Honorary Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the School of Medicine, University College Cork (UCC), Ireland.

Dr. Nicholas Alp has been appointed vice president and Therapeutic Area Leader for Cardiovascular, based in Marlow, UK. Prior to joining ICON, Dr. Alp held senior appointments in Cardiovascular Medicine at Oxford University, and as a consultant interventional cardiologist at Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust. He has more than 17 years of clinical research experience and has developed substantial insight into clinical trial design, research ethics and regulatory processes.

Both Professor Buckley and Dr. Alp have been appointed to ICON’s Global Scientific Council, a team of experts with broad industry experience of the scientific, technical and therapeutic aspects of product development.
