Dr. Dariush Elahi has been appointed director of Metabolic Research at ICON plc. Dr. Elahi will lead ICON’s early phase glucose clamping programs globally, providing scientific consultation to sponsors developing therapeutics to treat endocrine/metabolic disease. He’ll be based in the company’s Clinical Pharmacology Unit in San Antonio, TX.
 
Dr. Elahi is a clinical physiologist with more than 30 years of research experience focused on translational investigations of the regulation of glucose homeostasis. His expertise includes kinetics analyses of fuel substrates using both stable and radioactive tracers and the employment of these techniques during clamp studies. Dr. Elahi has authored 147 scientific publications and is nationally and internationally recognized for his work on the role of insulin. He has served as a professor at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. He also served as Research Physiologist and Senior Staff Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Institutes on Aging.
