Sara Lewis, a formulation development specialist at Metrics, Inc., has earned the Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional (CPIP) credential from the ISPE Professional Certification Commission. Ms. Lewis is the third employee at Metrics to earn CPIP accreditation, and is among only 76 CPIP professionals worldwide.

The CPIP credential is an independent, international competency-based certification for pharmaceutical professionals who support product development through manufacturing. Those who qualify are held to a global competency standard through education, experience and examination.

Ms. Lewis joined Metrics in 2005 and served as a supervisor in the microbiology lab before moving into formulation development. Ms. Lewis currently assists in developing novel formulations for solid oral dosages for non-potent and potent products. She provides data and documentation for regulatory filings and helps manufacture batches for stability and clinical trial testing.

“That fact that Metrics has more CPIP-credentialed scientists than any of our competitors certainly speaks to our company’s ongoing commitment to pharmaceutical leadership, innovation and quality,” said Dr. Brad Gold, vice president of pharmaceutical development. “It also demonstrates that when we say Metrics values scientific excellence, we truly mean it.”
