MilliporeSigma opened its new Life Science Center in Burlington, MA. The new 280,000-sq.-ft. facility is staffed by approximately 1,000 employees and is designed to serve as a regional hub for global customers. It houses a customer service and call center, along with an M Lab Collaboration Center, a shared research environment where the company’s scientists and engineers work with customers to learn about the latest biomanufacturing techniques.

“Science is progressing at an unprecedented pace, including advances in bioprocessing, genome editing and data analytics,” said Udit Batra, chief executive officer, MilliporeSigma. “Our new Burlington campus is specifically designed to foster a hands-on, collaborative environment where customers and our scientists and engineers come together to solve the toughest problems in life science.”

MilliporeSigma will also open a BioReliance Biodevelopment Center at the end of the year for small-scale drug manufacturers who will use the lab for early-phase clinical trials.
The Burlington facility was designed and constructed to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards — minimizing energy and water consumption. Some features include ample daylight, high-efficiency LED lighting and water fixtures and a 182kW solar photovoltaic system.
