SGS Acquires Northview Biosciences

SGS has acquired Northview Biosciences, Inc., a leading independent laboratory offering comprehensive testing capabilities in analytical chemistry, microbiology and sterility assurance, and serves a full range of clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology industries. This acquisition comprises two laboratories in Northbrook, IL and Spartanburg, SC. The acquired entities employ approximately 100 employees and generate in excess of $10 million in revenues.

With this acquisition, SGS takes an important step towards its strategic growth plan by establishing a strong presence in the North American market and becoming a leading service provider in the area of quality control testing to the life science industry, according to a company statement.

Northview Biosciences provides enhanced geographic coverage in the U.S., complements the existing customer base and adds testing expertise for the medical devise industry. Together with its life science laboratories in Fairfield, NJ and Mississauga, ON, Canada, SGS will be among the top five players in North America for GMP/GLP-compliant testing, and represents the largest laboratory network for GMP/GLP-compliant quality control testing for the pharmaceutical industry globally.
