Prasad Raje, Ph.D., has been named president of Smithers Pharma Services. Dr. Raje will report to Smithers Group president and chief executive officer, Michael Hochschwender.

“With more than 18 years of pharma experience, Prasad’s leadership and focus will serve both our clients and the Smithers Pharma Services team extremely well. We are looking forward to Prasad moving our pharma organization to the next level,” said Mr. Hochschwender.

Dr. Raje joined the Smithers organization in October of 2009, and has served as executive vice president of Smithers Viscient since February of 2011. In addition to those duties, he also had operational responsibility for Smithers Pharma Services. Dr. Raje’s background includes expertise in drug discovery and organic process research & development leading to commercialization of APIs, as well as conducting due diligence, acquisitions, and integration of businesses. Prior to commencing his career at Smithers, he held leadership roles at Abbott Laboratories and at AMRI, where he was responsible for globally managing the R&D labs and manufacturing facilities.
