Thermo Scientific has introduced its CultiMaxx Shelving System to increase the capacity of incubators using the four most-common cell culture production vessels. The company’s CultiMaxx shelving systems, Heracell VIOS 250i and Forma Steri-Cycle i250 CO2 incubators can support up to a 150% increase of G-Rex bioreactors without compromising performance, according to the company, and allowing scientists to scale-up their production of cell therapies according to their preferred methods.

The CultiMaxx System is designed to fit more batches and improve vessel accessibility for the following large vessels when using select Thermo Scientific CO2 incubators: 1L or other cell culture bags, Nunc Cell Factory systems with 10 or 13 layers, or Nunc Cell Factory systems with 4 layers, and G-Rex bioreactors from Wilson Wolf Corp.

Key Applications include cell therapy manufacturers, biotech companies and pharmaceutical companies who want to scale-up production of cultured cells, government/research/clinical institutions and academic labs focusing on advanced therapies, regenerative therapies, stem cell therapies, cell culture research.

Features increased capacity for vessels, up to 3X capacity for select CO2 incubators without compromising performance, including: Heracell VIOS 250i/Vios 250i CR – CTS Series, Steri-Cycle i250/Steri-Cycle i250 CR – CTS Series, Steri-Cult 323L, 3310/3311, and Reach-In 821L, 3950/3951.

Fit-for-purpose features promote optimal growth conditions including increased gas exchange when using cell culture bags and improved filter clearance on Nunc Cell Factory systems or similar vessels, while enabling individual vessel access, according to the company.

Customers can retrofit CultiMaxx shelving into their existing Thermo Scientific CO2 incubators on their own or with service support.
