Charleston Labs Adds Key Officers

Appoints Smith chief medical officer and Terifay chief commercial officer

Thomas Smith, M.D. has been appointed chief medical officer at Charleston Laboratories. Dr. Smith will collaborate with the executive team in setting corporate strategy to develop late phase medical and clinical strategies for current and future products. Dr. Smith will also be working closely with various global medical and regulatory agencies to implement these strategies.
 
Dr. Smith has more than 25 years of experience having held a variety of leadership roles at pharmaceutical companies, including chief medical officer at Ameritox, Mallinckrodt and Covidien, and as a clinical investigator and private practitioner.  
 
Also, Terrence W. Terifay has joined the company as chief commercial officer. In his role, Mr. Terifay will lead commercialization efforts, including building and overseeing the company’s commercial infrastructure to support its pipeline of fixed dose combination products.
 
He brings more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including executive roles responsible for corporate strategy, commercial operations, marketing, sales, market access and customer insights/analytics. Most recently, he was senior vice president, chief commercial officer at OptiNose, where he led the commercial organization and business development.
 
Joe Hazelton has assumed the role of chief operating officer and Ryan Baker the chief strategy officer position.
