Piramal Enterprises Ltd. has agreed to sell its healthcare analytics unit, Decision Resources Group, to U.S.-based Clarivate Analytics Plc for $950 million. The transaction is expected to be completed by February 28.

DRG specializes in creating patient-centric commercial strategies to help pharma, biopharma and medical technology companies to achieve commercial success in complex health markets. Revenue from the healthcare insights and analytics business was $187.3 million for the financial year ended March 31, 2019.

In its largest transaction, Piramal had acquired Decision Resources Group (DRG) in 2012, investing $650 million to diversify its business.

Jerre Stead, Clarivate’s executive chairman and chief executive officer said, “This is a milestone acquisition which doubles the size of the company’s life sciences business and increase the total revenue by 20 percent. The deal sets us up to become an essential, end-to-end, industry-leading data and analytics provider to the highly attractive life sciences ecosystem.”
