The Top 25 Report

It’s time for Contract Pharma’s annual snapshot of the largest pharma & biopharma companies

For 2016, the top of the Top 25 Companies list stays the same. Those featured at the head of the leader board are the usual suspects we’ve grown accustomed to seeing there. The only change sees Merck and Roche swapping the 4 and 5 spots once again as they’ve done for several years now.

After that, aside from a few position shifts up and down, overall, not much change took place in Contract Pharma’s rankings, which are based on 2015 sales in $US millions. The biggest jump was just four places forward while the largest fall was only three spots back.

Boehringer-Ingelheim made the furtherest leap ahead in the ranks from 19 last year up four spots to 15, driven by the approval of Praxbind. Biggest fall off: Teva dropped from 10 to 13 while Bayer also fell three places from 16 to 19.

There was not much shifting at all towards the bottom of the list aside from two new companies entering the fray: Celgene and Daiichi Sankyo. Their entrance into the ranks bumped off Baxter and Esai, last year’s 24th and 25th ranks respectively.

By no means extensive, the financials, pipeline and company news reported in these profiles offer quick glimpses into the workings of the largest pharma companies in the world. We hope you enjoy!
