Caidya is naming Michael Clay its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). As a global, mid-sized contract research organization (CRO), Caidya focuses on accelerating clinical development for biopharmaceutical companies.

For Caidya, Clay will lead the CRO’s global operational delivery, client engagement model, and execution strategy. The company says this approach will further strengthen its ability to serve sponsors in the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

How Clay Helps Caidya Goals

It is in the last of these regions where Clay’s experience may prove most helpful to Caidya. A press release announcing his appointment said he has extensive leadership experience across Asia-Pacific. Caidya CEO Barbara Lopez Kunz noted this highlight on Clay’s resume.

“Mike’s leadership strengthens one of our most important differentiators—our ability to combine global reach with regional expertise,” Lopez Kunz said. “His deep understanding of site engagement, global execution, and sponsor partnership will help us scale.”

And this will be done, Lopez Kunz said, while preserving “the agility, accountability, and transparency our clients value.”

In the release, Caidya singled out China as “an increasingly vital region” for innovation in biotech development and patient access.

“I’m excited to join Caidya at a time when global clinical development is becoming more interconnected and complex,” Clay said. “Caidya is strategically positioned to help sponsors accelerate programs while maintaining quality and patient focus.”

Clay Has COO Experience

To be more specific about Clay’s background, he comes to Caidya after a most recent stint at Fortrea. There, Clay served as Senior Vice President, Global Product Delivery, and oversaw more than 500 clinical trials.

He has also served as COO and in other senior operations roles at CROs earlier in his career.

This is not the only recent personnel move for Caidya. The company has also added, among others, Edward Dow, MD, as oncology and hematology subject matter expert. Additionally, Mario Bautista was named head of Business Development throughout Europe.
