Wheeler Bio, a biologics-focused CDMO, is appointing Rajesh Beri, PhD, as its new Chief Development Officer. Beri’s expertise in chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) strategy aligns with the ModularCMC platform Wheeler Bio is looking to strengthen.

Wheeler says Beri also has experience in technical operations, process development, and current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) manufacturing. Taken together, these attributes align with the company’s goal of deepening its scientific expertise. Wheeler Bio says it aims to better serve clinical- and commercial-focused, antibody-based clients through accelerating biologics development.

Executive Moves at Wheeler Bio

Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Wheeler Bio is expanding its executive team to meet growing demand for United States-based biologics manufacturing.

At Wheeler, Beri will lead development, supporting integrated CMC programs from cell line development through drug substance and product manufacturing. Additionally, he will oversee scientific strategy surrounding the ModularCMC platform, with goals of reducing risk, improving scalability, and accelerating timelines.

New Chief Development Officer Expertise

Beri brings more than 30 years of experience to his new post. Among those are 14 years’ worth of senior leadership roles at Lonza Biologics. He then held executive leadership positions at Immunovant, Goodwin Biotech, and Senda Biosciences.

“Rajesh has built an exceptional career leading biologics development and advancing antibody-based molecules,” Wheeler President and CEO Patrick Lucy said. “His leadership will increase the scientific rigor at Wheeler Bio and ensure excellent execution of process, formulation, and analytical development.”

“I am honored to join Wheeler Bio during this exciting period of growth,” Beri said. “The company’s scientific depth, collaborative culture, and innovative ModularCMC platform create an opportunity to help biotechnology companies overcome development challenges … I look forward to working alongside the talented Wheeler Bio team and providing technical support to Wheeler’s partners. [This will] help advance their programs and ultimately deliver new therapies to patients.”
