Lois Johnson has been appointed vice president of Quality, Development and Clinical Services, and Alex Eslava has been named vice president of Quality, Sterile Technologies, at Catalent Pharma Solutions. Ms. Johnson and Dr. Eslava will be based in Somerset, NJ.
Ms. Johnson has more than 20 years of experience as a Quality professional in the biopharmaceutical industry, and has worked in both commercial and R&D areas. Prior to joining the company, Ms. Johnson was senior director of QA-North America for Aptuit, Inc., where she led a team that managed all quality and regulatory activities and processes, from product conception through commercial manufacture. Prior to Aptuit, Ms. Johnson held Quality leadership positions at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Aventis Behring Corp., Centeon and Rhône-Poulenc Rorer, and Armour Pharmaceutical.
Dr. Eslava joins the company from Wyeth, where he was assistant vice president and Quality head for the company’s Biotechnology area.In that role, he directed an organization of 300 employees and was responsible for the chemical/biochemical and microbiology labs, in-process and final production inspections, quality engineering; supplier evaluations, internal and external audits, and product releases. Prior to Wyeth, Dr. Eslava was assistant vice president of Quality for Wyeth’s Latin America business.
