West Pharmaceutical Services has introduced its ID Adapter, having completed the product development and first phase of commercial scale-up at its manufacturing center in Arizona. West has also received 510K clearance for the ID Adapter from the FDA.
The adapter is designed to help improve the consistency and reliability of intradermal injections for vaccines and other injectable drugs. The ID Adapter provides an alternative to the Mantoux method, the industry standard for intradermal injection since 1907, which requires inserting the needle into the skin at a very shallow angle.
"We are delighted to offer our customers a solution which can improve reliability and performance of intradermal injections and meet growing market demands in this area," said John Paproski, president, Pharmaceutical Delivery Systems, West.
