Sciformix Corp. and Cambridge Semantics have partnered to launch a semantic technology platform specifically tailored to pharmacovigilance processes to help interpret big data for the life science industry. This technology platform will allow Sciformix to expand its targeted pharmacovigilance automation suite for clients.
The platform combines Sciformix’s domain expertise in pharmacovigilance with Cambridge Semantics’ Anzo Smart Data Lake to build safety-specific ontologies onto the platform in an effort to enable life science companies to transform existing legacy data models into self-service analytics to maximize the value of their data. The semantic layer of technology on the data lake is deigned to process and make sense of vast quantities of structured and unstructured data to allow users to see patterns, signals and extract analytics. According to the company, the platform can help operationalize machine learning and artificial intelligence to allow it to improve over time and further automate practices, including case processing and medical review, enabling users to have fewer touch points with their data.
Sciformix president and chief executive officer Manish Soman said, “Sciformix is excited to announce this collaboration, which will enhance pharmacovigilance processes in the industry through a new, comprehensive end-to-end solution. We chose to work with the Cambridge Semantics open platform as it is scalable, capable of handling large quantities of data and able to provide advanced analytics. As the scientific work carried out by Sciformix and its clients is very data intensive, this was essential. “The platform will enable us to provide a pharmacovigilance solution that will go beyond automating rule-based activities.”
Alok Prasad, president of Cambridge Semantics said, “We are pleased to partner with Sciformix and extend their industry leading safety and pharmacovigilance expertise with our powerful Anzo Smart Data Lake product. Our semantically driven, big data graph platform will provide Sciformix with the unprecedented automation capabilities needed to process and understand vast amounts of medical information, enabling better patient safety for their clients.”
Sciformix, headquartered in the U.S. with operations in Europe, India, and Philippines, partners with life science organizations to provide services, from study design to post-marketing surveillance. Areas of specialization include safety and risk management, clinical development, real world evidence and market research, scientific writing, regulatory affairs, and technology services.
