The machine is the first on the market that is solely dedicated to the lyophilization process

Antares Vision's president, Andrew Pietrangelo, gave Contract Pharma an up-close look at the company's newly unveiled LYO-CHECK Machine for lyophilized products at Interphex 2018,  Booth 2571.

The inspection machine was developed to meet industry needs for a dedicated inspection system distinct from those applied to liquid parenteral products. It features a floating carousel that allows the performance of precise inspections without any electronic or mechanical parts on the underside of the vials, along with other inspections involving capping.

Lyophilization is a process that removes water from a liquid drug to create a solid powder, which is typically stored in vials, cartridges, dual chamber syringes, and pre-filled mixing systems.

The LYO-CHECK Machine is the first of its kind on the market that was specifically dedicated to the Lyo process, rather than designed around liquid inspections and then later adapted to lyophilization. All inspections performed are specific to any defects or issues that could be found throughout the lyophilization process.
