Joseph Devaney has been appointed vice president, Government Affairs and Policy, Americas at Astellas. Mr. Devaney will be based in Astellas' Washington, DC office, reporting to Jeffrey Winton, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs.
Mr. Devaney will be responsible for leading the Government Affairs and Policy team and developing, communicating, and implementing Astellas' federal and state government strategies, engagement activities and policy development across all functional areas.
Devaney joins the company after 20 years at Sanofi and its predecessor companies, where he held roles of increasing responsibility in public policy and market access, including most recently the role of vice president of Federal and State Relations. Prior to Sanofi, he was director of state government affairs for Sandoz, which became part of Novartis in 1996.
"Joe's experience and leadership will elevate our highly collaborative team of senior government strategy, policy, legislative and regulatory professionals in Washington, D.C.," Mr. Winton said. "His role in developing Astellas' strategy on public policy issues being considered by government lawmakers and trade associations will be pivotal in Astellas' growth throughout the Americas region."
